What is the currency of Georgia

The official currency in Georgia is the Georgian Lari usually indicated as GEL. Lari is subdivided into 100 Tetri. Major hotels accept credit cards, but please check outside the main cities. Cash point machines are available throughout major towns and cities.

How is public transportation in Tbilisi?

Tbilisi public transport includes: underground (metro), buses, mini-buses and taxis.

CITY BUSSES 
The buses travel around the entire city and cost 50 Tetri (20 cents). You can buy a ticket at the ticket machine in the bus. The ticket machine doesn't give change so the fare should be paid exactly. 

 

MINI BUSSES
If you'd like to travel by minibuses you can catch it basically at any spot, as the minibuses have no fixed stops. The same principle works during the journey. The passenger may ask the driver to drop him/her off at any place on the bus route he/she desires. Mini-buses usually cost 80 Tetri (35 cents). 

 

METRO
Tbilisi Underground, called the Metro for "Metropolitan", has two lines and 21 stations. It operates from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The cost is set at 50 Tetri (20 cents). Metro tokens can only be purchased inside the metro station from cashiers'. Metro stations are identified by the red (M) sign.

Georgia uses the standard EU 2 pin Type C plugs (220-240 volts). Most devices with the USA plugs will work Georgia with the necessary USA - EU plug adapter. Consult your manufacturers recommendations for devices such as hairdryers etc.
